I'm in Maine and it is currently 3° F and we are headed to an overnight low of -17°.

Winds are howling, but at least it's a nice sunny day. Not a cloud in sight.

Temps have been falling steadily since last night. At 2:00 this morning, we were at 36°.

Which means they are misrepresenting the overall picture of Temperature in the NE. They are hand picking the tops of mountains or something like that.

Six years at Loring AFB and never once did the Flightline close down.

Amazing. It could have been minus 26 (with windchill) outside the front and back gates and it NEVER got below minus 26 on that darn flightline.
