That gel type spray is better for the user. But you better aim well. And you sure need it where you are! I think that gel would hurt more too. Harder to wash out if it hits your face.
It’s more like a really oily spray than a gel and it is fine on black bears. But if I ever have to deal with a grizz I’ll be using my AR-10.
