Cutting across parking lots to avoid an intersection is generally frowned upon by the standard traffic law, or so I remember from studying to pass the Driver’s License exam.

I'm 75 (Feb 29/Mar 1) and I nave learned to slow down, look all over the place at all times, be alert . . . . or just stay home.
Which is my usual choice.
