A personal friend in a combat arms branch of the US Army served multiple tours in Viet Nam. He was essentially rewarded after demobilizing by being assigned to diplomatic protective services in the US Embassy in Paris, France, during the peace talks. A Great Depression is characterized by prices falling so rapidly that no one will spend any money if they can possibly postpone it, expecting lower prices later.

So deflationary crisis is sort of the opposite of hyper inflation; except that: In both cases millions could starve or undergo other extreme hardships.
I believe that, despite current rhetoric, a deflationary crisis is the greater danger. The FED directly caused the Great Depression (along with Bank of England) by fatally shrinking the money supply in a misbegotten attempt to return currency exchange rates vs gold to pre-WWI levels.

Thank you for the RD article. The photo there is the one I picture when I think of the case - hard-sided leather with a solid handle and somewhat large, possibly chained to the agent’s wrist. Technology may have allowed the football to be carried about without all the manuals and physical protection now. If they do away with those materials though, they’d need to make sure they have guaranteed electronic communications. We wouldn’t want a situation where the SS has to say “Sorry Boss. We don’t have to carry those heavy manuals now but I can’t get an internet connection to get the instructions to intercept that incoming missile.”

Not to worry about the communications or manual backups, they have “Redundancies” built into the system.

Seems clear Pelosi “beat the market” because if info Congress had, whether classified or not; at least no public. Especially when Congress is planning some action that will affects markets. OTOH, the Biden crime family went much deeper and darker than that.
