He hasn’t been hosting TG for years. The whole team quit over some other kerfuffle and now they have their own show on Amazon Prime, called “The Grand Tour” (and several offshoots).
As big a Top Gear fan as I am, their Grand Tour just wasn’t that interesting.
I believe BBC axed the show after Clarkson had a dust-up with the show's producer. This was the last straw as Clarkson had a past full of pissing off people (many of whom deserved it).
That said, I find him hilarious and imagine he'd be good craic during a night on the piss.
If you go to Beaulieu, the national car museum located in Hampshire, you can see many of the Top Gear cars on display.
