Even on top of all that, the Air Force has a massive amount of night operations out of Luke AFB - about twenty miles to the West. There could easily be aircraft unfamiliar to ground observers operating in that area - though hopefully well out of the way of the PHX approach patterns.

Seems like an attempt to tie in with the infamous "Phoenix Lights" sighting in the 90's, but a picture taken from that location suggests far too many more plausible alternatives.

Yeah, I thought of that - Luke is kinda sleepy these days, maybe they have some boring drone stuff going on. Believe the mainstay now is F-35.

But I did notice this on their website:

It’s still some stupid balloons and we all know it. Some F-35 driver didn’t just park over North Phoenix to have fun with the rubes, but I suppose he could have!
