It does sound like an insider’s takedown of the US.

Sometime after the North had flattened the South (thank you democrats) Vietnamese Defense Minister, General Võ Nguyên Giáp, stated that the North was two months away from total collapse when the bombing stopped. Two months and the war would have had a different outcome. Giáp wasn’t sure the North would have gotten the backing of Russia or China after having lost once.
