If China starts to collapse they are likely to start wars to distract the population.
<< Pundits on the left (and occasionally on the right as well), often with overt admiration for the Chinese model of authoritarian state-directed crony capitalism.. >>
Previously (and accurately) known as …fascism. Not the new definition of fascism which now means …anything the Left doesn’t like.
They might go for Taiwan. Or they may feint at Taiwan and go for something else while we are focused on Taiwan.
China’s economic numbers have been BS for years.
There will be a massive economic downturn, and it will be global.
Get ready to trot out the flags.
China buys very little from the USA. They could disappear and we would be better off in the long run.
China has a big Communist Party, which is its new Mandarin class. There are about 96 million members of the CCP, with about 70% men.

The point of the old Mandarin class, which you entered by passing tests of intellectual ability relating to the classics, is that if you provide a path to power and status for intellectuals, then you don’t have to worry about them organizing revolutions.
If you are a male CCP member, then you don’t have to worry about attracting female companionship.
The problem is that you have to make sure that the merit system is upheld. Once you have CCP members gaming the system to get their mediocre offspring in, then you have a problem.
Maybe, but that doesn’t address what is coming.
Of course that’s just my opinion and not current fact.
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so…
Lol….I noticed that too!
They should forget Taiwan for a while and take over Russia who has both food and fuel.
China is a Maritime Nation with a brown water navy. Only 10% of the Chinese navy can sail 1000 miles without stopping to refuel. That assumes they are sailing slowly and now taking any kind of evasive action.
They cannot project power anywhere other than Taiwan. Even there, air attacks would be more significant than trying to cross the ocean moat.
The ChiComs discovered that fascism is a whole lot more profitable than communism. And that a politician is a whole lot cheaper than a fighter jet.
Even given all the dire prognostications on birth rate, China will still have plenty of people.
Taiwan would not be any kind of problem for China. The Taiwanese have limitless anti-ship and-anti air missiles. China would eventually march their army over the bridge made of sunken ships to reach Taiwan. No Problem. (/s)
You are correct, China will still have plenty of people. They would be older and unable to fill all of the positions which need young men, but hey, the old guys can do the job for awhile.

socialism + statism = state ownership & control + universal wage and price controls + elimination of profits & private property & competition + central planning + political incentives + collectivist duty & altruistic sacrifice + government monopoly + bureaucratic management + mob rule + force/tyranny + slave labor & forced labor + terror & mass murder = anarchy of production + economic chaos + inefficiency & waste + shortages + technological backwardness + misery/suffering for the masses + riches & aristocratic privilege & court society for the rulers/leaders
In the US , we are being ruled by the mediocre offspring of elites, who used their influence to get them into an Ivy League school and secured entrance into the Deep State.
Thanks to China’s one baby/abortion policy, China will soon be a nation of grandpas and grandmas.
Grandpas and grandmas are incapable of filling the ranks of the military to effectively project power. China will soon stop building a Navy and switch to building a fleet of cruise ships so grandma and grandpa can enjoy their senior years.
There would be a graveyard of Chinese ships at the bottom of the Taiwan Straits.
They buy a lot of COAL.
