Recording studios frequently use fabric on the ceiling to hide acoustic treatments, especially home studios.

++++++ Sort of. It reduces floor to ceiling reflections and overall reverberation. (Mr G is a studio designer)

Audio engineers like echo and reverb but when its controlled
so the acoustically “dead” room is the ideal. I have drop ceiling in basement that fabric would be nice to have just for the looks
