I have been noticing lately a lot of people using "a" instead of "an" before a word beginning with a vowel. Mostly when spoken, not written. Even intelligent people doing this.
I know it hasn't been going on a long time because I would have noticed. Maybe I'm just becoming even more curmudgeonly in my old age but I fear for the English language.
