I remember going to an art exhibit for my art class in college. Most of the class was disappointed- it looked like a lot of crap anyone could have tossed together with kindergarten art supplies.
Afterward the teach said “I don’t want to hear about how bad his art was, his politics are good”
I remember thinking “what the f*** does that have to do with his art being garbage”
“I don’t want to hear about how bad his art was, his politics are good”
One of hunter’z pieces I presume.?
I remember going to an art show at the Tulsa City Library fifty one years ago. I was at the time working in a steel shop and going to art classes at night.
What I saw was I beams cut and bent, then painted passed off as art. I did the same thing during the day but no one called what I was hired to do “ART”.
There were also some paintings there that were passed off as art. The art teachers thought they were great and I thought they were crap.
There was a section of paintings using realism and I enjoyed it real well till the art teacher said ......”OH MY GOD! HE USED BLACK!”
Interesting, as the Soviets officially loathed non representational art and Abstract Impressionism as examples of rotten bourgeois liberalism. To the end of the regime the few examples of such sculpture, such as one consisting of featureless metallic statues that looked like space aliens supposedly representing high school boys killed in Babarossa, were constantly vandalized by regular Soviet citizens.
