Up until Brandon won, Democrats were not going to take the “Trump shot.” Harris and Biden both said during the debates that they were not going to take and signalled their base they shouldn’t either. The script flipped after Brandon was installed and then they urged their supporters to take-it-take-it-take-it. Brandon went on about a “winter of death” and whispered “do it now.”
Democrats jumped aboard and...they must have figured Trump supporters would, too. And a lot of folks DID take it. Around 67% of the population took it—whether they wanted to or not. IIRC, Brandon was trying to reach a goal of at least 75%.
Then you had to keep getting boosters every four months or so if you wanted to “stay vaccinated.” By the time the summer of 2021 ended, the bloom was off the rose and the jig was up. Wasn’t a genuine vaccine by any definition or measure and resistance grew and appears to be growing. They’re still trying to get kids and young adults to take it, even though dying due to covid is fleetingly rare for that group.
I don’t know. Basically, I think they thought Trump voters would take regardless (”because Trump”) but if Biden and Harris promoted it, the “critical thinkers” would come aboard, too. I think they miscalculated.
This is my thought as well. They may be evil but that doesn’t mean they are smart. They didn’t think it through and what they did think about, they came to the wrong conclusion.

I think you’ve got a point. Because Trump was (allegedly) behind Operation Warp Speed they assumed that every Trump supporter would blindly follow. (I say “allegedly” because it’s pretty clear that the Pence-Birx-Fauci cabal were steering him to do that.)
They still don’t understand that true conservatives think for themselves. We don’t blindly follow someone without doing some critical thinking.
They used to think that about Rush — that whatever he said we did, but they had it backwards. The truth was that when he veered off the rails a few times WE either stopped listening or reined him back in.
