I trust you and I did not mean to dismiss it all. If you checked my posting history I often say that a solar flare or storm is a far more likely scenario than an EMP to take out our electrical grid.
We have had some pretty strong ones in the last few decades (and before I am sure) after I became aware of the risk and I was not aware of the US losing satellites and you taught me something - not sure how I missed this (link below).

That was not cheap!!!! Hope our military satellites are more hardened than the Starlink ones were.
It is not the EMP hardening, it is the orbit. Low Earth Orbit is most susceptible to the physical effects of solar storms.
