***Almost all of them produced in the last twenty-five years***
Not fit to watch. Give me the older GREAT movies! Captain from Castile, Prince of Foxes, The Pride and the Passion, El Cid, 55 Days at Peking! Fall of the Roman Empire, Khartoum,
ZULU, Zulu Dawn, The Black Rose, The War Lord....and so many other great ones from the past.
Zulu was an awesome movie. Who ever produce that knew battle tactics very well.
Catana Perez in Captain from Castile is one of the greatest heroines in all literature, and this was not developed in the movie. Also I thought Tyrone Power was miscast.
In the movie version of Prince of Foxes the entire crux of the story was left out: the Sainte. The scene in which she confronts Cesare Borgia, the embodiment of evil, is one of the best in literature. Borgia, hoping to entrap her into heresy and turn her over to the Inquisition asks if she hears the voice of God. She replies that she does. He asks why he doesn't hear it, and she replies (to paraphrase) that it is because he will not listen. That moment was spellbinding. They left the whole thing out of the movie.
Khartoum was pretty great! Especially if you read Churchill’s “The River War”
!
