I was watching an interview with Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau (from 1987 I think). Mathau was saying there are still some good movies being made (this was 35 years ago!) but movies “today” are made by people that want to make money - bankers basically. So they will make whatever the latest polls say people will want to see. That is why you have Rambo VI. They don’t want to take a risk on a film that is different. “Movies now are made by morons for morons.”
