I remember the precise moment I became ferociously engaged in my son’s education. We were having our usual family dinner together and I mentioned that I’d finished my tax return and I owed a couple of thousand dollars. My son piped up “Paying taxes is good.” I felt my blood pressure go up, but I calmly asked “Why honey?” and he began to spout some socialist nonsense imposed on him by his male socialist teacher. From that night on, we had in-depth conversations about some of the stuff he was hearing in school and I gently offered alternative points of view more reflective of conservative values. I am now the very proud parent of a conservative son who may actually be more conservative than his Mom, even leaning towards red-neckery, in a good way.
You did great!
Your son is fortunate to have a mother equipped to recognize a signature sign of adverse influence on him, and to address it quickly but patiently, and, in more than one conversation. Nice memory for both. ☺️
When did your son have his epiphany ?
I had mine when I got married and had to start paying the full freight.
