Why were they even starting with chest compressions if they had an AED.
odds of restarting a heart from CPR are incredibly low, even when administered properly, which most folks do not do because they don’t use enough force to actually cause the heart to compress, basically you will hear the ribs crack/break if you are exerting enough force (on an adult).
To me that’s the question I have is how long did it take them to get the shocks administered? I highly highly doubt they got his heart started again with chest compressions.
Re:152 - the AED will not fire unless it sees heart activity or no activity for which it can fire. That is NOT to say no activity was seen, we don’t know that yet. But AEDs fire on specified heart activity or lack thereof.
