Assigning committee seats, announcing investigations, and passing red meat bills we all know will never pass the Senate is one thing - but we’ll see just how genuine Kevin McCarthy is when we see how he handles the debt ceiling.
This is where spineless Republicans always cave.
Yellen will hold off till the last minute to declare it is an emergency and no time for discussion. McCarthy will have to hold out under pressure from Republicans as well as Democrats. Republicans will tell him if the government closes under their watch they will never get elected again. Democrats will tell people Republicans are cutting off social security and military checks.
