Yes. Life was better when it was legal to shoot looters. The real problem is that it is illegal to use deadly force to defend property. I would like to see this changed in a future crime bill.

Good for them. They know calling the police is not going to do anything. Not sure about New York, in California those store owners would have been arrested and jailed - it's perfectly legal to take $950 worth of merchandise and law enforcement won't do a thing.
