Another example of how government funding, grants, etc., have corrupted the government.
Not to mention earmarks corrupting the congress. Legal government bribery.
Government grants (and the potential loss thereof) have been used for decades to get local entities to “voluntarily” do things which the federal government would have no authority to order.
Look up how often loss of federal highway money is used to get states to do things like set speed limits, and federal law enforcement grants are used to ensure local cooperation.
