Some people are attracted to that kind of short fused person just for the unpredictability and excitement.
Some grew up with a mean drunk alcoholic, so this is more of what they’re used to. Others have not yet learned to let themselves fight back, still wondering if this is what they deserve.
i knew this other couple- both alkies- and they would get into brutal fights- every so often one woudl wind up in the hospital=- one time the fella said something to really tick off the woman and she took the home phone and clocked him with it- cut his mouth up pretty bad- still has the scar from it- they eventually did split up- she ended up with a muslim dude who tried to force her to go to the middle east with him- - fortunately she ducked out of the relationship- but you are right- some folks are just attracted to that kind of life- she at least had sense enough to not go overseas to the middle east- she was used to fighting back- over there she wouldn’t have been allowed to fight back- and i think she knew it-
