Members of a Facebook group called 'Tesla Owners Club UK' expressed their frustration at the queues.
One said: 'Someone taking the mick at Tebay? Beien here over an hour. Still 15 in front of me in the queue for a charger. Easily another 2 hours to wait - minimum.'
A second added: 'We need more superchargers. I love Tesla, but this country is not up to standards if they want total electricity!'
A third said: 'New Tesla owner and I’m super disappointed with the charging lark. Nobody told me that a winter charge would barely achieve half the performance.
'Tesla are charging too much to use their chargers. Finding podpoint at 40p avg best value for money.'
Another wrote on Twitter: 'Really upsetting to have whole family wait for two hours to charge car.'
Elsewhere, the supercharger at Telford services was impacted, with one person saying: 'Absolute carnage at Telford supercharger today. 4 teslas parked waiting to charge.
Around 24 owners were waiting to charge in a Waitrose car park in South Mims The Tebay Southbound supercharger in Cumbria also saw a high volume of cars
Tesla owners have blasted car charging chaos across the UK during the Christmas holiday with dozens of electric vehicles forced to wait in three hour queues.
Cars were logjammed up and down the country, with snaking queues spotted in Hertfordshire, Cumbria, Westmorland and Telford.
The huge queues came as rail strikes forced millions into having to take to the roads to get home for the festive period. A further 12 million cars were also expected to be on the UK's road network today amid the ongoing industrial action.
The Tebay Southbound supercharger in Cumbria, by the M6 Junction, was also seeing a high volume of vehicles attempting to charge yesterday.

Oh my they found out you can’t unscrew the cap and pour electricity into the car
Bloke didn't read the owner's manual, eh?
The more that buy EVs the more EV rage we’ll get ,LOL
The only practical way to to do it is to pair an EV vehicle with a gas or hybrid vehicle. Use the EV for short runs around town where you can get back home to recharge. When you have to actually go anywhere, or haul anything large, or haven’t been able to charge your EV, you use your conventional car.
That’s best case. Gas powered cars can’t go away without some pretty big innovations.
Yep that’s what it comes down to. You have an EV to virtue signal, but you also have a REAL CAR hidden away in the shed, to use for trips where you either need a reliable vehicle or long distances.
The problem is that the above group of people is quite small, so hence the need for government to remove any choice when it comes down to what types of vehicles are offered.
These guys know their EV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJytvfaczvY

“Nobody told me.” Hilarious. That’s what you get for relying on government and enviroweenies for your information.
I’ve never been a fan of battery-powered, that’s charged with fossil fuels and nuclear, cars. From every aspect they just aren’t practical whether it is the environmental damage they cause, re-charging (lack of chargers, problems charging) storage with them catching on fire, effects of the cold on batteries, and other problems.

I think hydrogen technology has a much better future than batteries.
Why would I consider an EV for even a millisecond????
Yeah! All that beautiful charge going POOF in a flash.
What an inconvenience.
“And they drove with pride.”
Snifff...I miss The Great One so much. That was the best parody ever.

I wouldn’t mind an ev as a runabout in town, keeping my 3row SUV for travel and grandchild transport.
I’m thinking eventually I’ll be able to pick one up for pennies on the dollar.
Stupid is supposed to hurt.

The battery technology seems to keep changing. These batteries shouldn’t have a “memory” like earlier ones, where repeated partial discharge could result in permanent reduction in charge capacity. But, what about a lifetime reduction through number of charge/discharge cycles?
If you only get so many cycles from a battery and you’re using them the way you describe, you won’t be happy with the mileage you get from them.
“I only waited about 10 minutes at Sam’s Club to get gas for my car today ...Why don’t they ???”
Because, pal, they are SENDING A MESSAGE with their Teslas. You need to learn to bow-down to them.
You don’t need to ping anybody. He/she lurks the internet looking for articles about toy cars, reads the negative comments about them and then spouts off useless info about them.
“Why would I consider an EV for even a millisecond?”
Because, soon, you will not have a choice.
Because, soon, you will not have a choice.
I don’t think so
