Is there damage if I let it warm up for a few minutes? In severe cold?

Seems like “Damage your engine” in the title is the click bait.

Article really doesn’t mention any engine damage. Just emissions, environment and fuel waste. Here in Chicago, I always warm up in -20+ weather.

I always trusted the advice of the car talk guys, click and clack. They said the best way to warm up a car is to drive it slowly in really cold weather. Only for the first few minutes and then the car is warm enough to drive normally.
