I didn't type the transcript. Some YOUTUBE videos provide a computer generated transcript that lacks punctuation and has some phonetic errors. I try to clean up the transcript enough to be usable. It takes a long time to add punctuation (IMHO) so this last time I only made corrections to about 6 minutes of computer generated transcript, and linked the rest of the uncorrected transcript.
For my own use, I can kind of read through transcripts without corrections but sometimes have to check some areas of the video if the text is garbled.
I've only seen computer generated transcripts on some YOUTUBE videos (No 3rd party or Rumble videos etc.)
To check if a YOUTUBE video has a transcript, click on the icon under the video image showing three dots to (to the right of the 'save' option). If there's a transcript, it will be listed.
If you open the transcript option, you have the option to view the transcript with time stamps throughout the text, or you can "toggle" off timestamps.
From there, there's just one more hurdle to copy and paste a transcript. You may have to tinker to find out how to keep the formatting - otherwise the transcript can turn into a blob. I dunno, maybe the blob isn't a bad thing.
