Yeah, how Boaz was dumped from Y&R is really appalling. Frankly, he should’ve sued for discrimination and wrongful termination. I don’t have a gripe against the present actor in Chance’s role. The writing is more to blame than anything the actor is doing, and not allowing him to develop any chemistry with Melissa Ordway. You could tell the whole surrogacy thing was going to be a fiasco, which it was. Killing off Rey Rosales, who would’ve been his friend and partner, also isolated the character, too.

Remember, though, he dumped Abby after he and Amanda walked in on Devon & Abby in delicto flagrante, so he at least didn’t put up with that nonsense. Frankly, though, he should probably just walk away from a relationship with Abby & Devon’s progeny. Seeing the kid would always be a reminder of the destruction of his marriage. Probably better for the character to leave the show entirely because of how the writing isolated/alienated him from everyone else.

I don’t know; if Boaz sued, he might get blacklisted. I was a woman in a formerly male-dominated field, long before #MeToo or even Title IX, and there were a number of incidents where it was better to take a loss and try to get another job than try to fight, if I wanted to work in that city again. For Boaz or anyone in Hollywood to try standing up for a conservative political preference is career suicide.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Chance character. He’s too young for the single ladies (and town bicycles) Sharon, Phyllis and Chelsea; and Noah’s ex Audra is a skank and not a very appealing one like Hilary was before she became Amanda. That leaves Sally, who is too young for Nick, but she and Nick do have great chemistry. We shall see.

It is courageous that the writers are handling the mixed-race issue with the child without making a big political deal. Starting long ago with Kristoff St John, race just hasn’t been politicized on the show, and I appreciate the normalized relationships. I’m wondering if the little Dominic kid actually is a child of Bryton’s or Melissa Ordway’s, since he is very comfortable with them. It must be confusing for a kid that young to hear mere actors spoken of as “mommy” and “daddy.”
