Didn't know the specifics of Derrick Thomas (thank you), but there is absolutely zero question that athletes die of sudden death due to undiagnosed cardiac disease (e.g. hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated CM, arrhythmogenic RV dysplasia, etc). I have personally seen young patients with sudden death from underlying undiagnosed pro-arrhythmic cardiac conditions. It's rare, but happens.

You’re the one who posted he died in response to people dying young from sudden deathe. Didn’t realize car accidents were relevant to the subject. He died from injuries from a car accident. I mean you could obfuscate I guess. He actually died from blood clots.

Because of the devasting automobile accident. See what I did there? He was actually in a Suburban, which is an SUV. Which is BS but that’s the way some people “debate”. But whatever. He died from an accident. Not Covid. Not a heart attack...well maybe. Maybe the blood clot caused a heart attack....So. We can keep going round and round.

Of course young people die from undiagnosed cardiac problems. You yourself said “it’s rare”. The problem is, it’s not near as rare now as before. How do you explain the excess mortality in that age group? Just bad luck?
