Not saying the above doesn't apply as well. Much meaning is condensed/locked away in scripture. His words to those that heard them that day were days later truly fulfilled in the simplest of minds.

That's Obi Wan Kenobi-level "So what I said to you was true - from a certain point of view" BS.

If He had been referring to His first Resurrection, just days later, talking about "some of you standing here today will not yet have tasted of Death" is deceitful and misleading. One doesn't or rather shouldn't refer to much-hoped-for events in the NEAR future in that way!

If, however, he was instead referring to the Second Coming, then it is plainly UNTRUTHFUL to give false hope by claiming that some of those standing there THAT DAY would not "taste of Death" - since we are still waiting today for the Second Coming!

consider also if He is speaking of physical or spiritual death

If you give someone THAT much slack, then they can say ANYTHING without you being able to falsify it!

The people listening to Him back then - if you had taken a poll - would have UNANIMOUSLY agreed: "He, of course, means PHYSICAL death! Hurrah!"
