It’s funny how no one ever seems to mention that for all of the ML Observatory’s premier CO2 atmospheric monitoring capacities, that it is located not 40 miles from one of the greatest natural sources of CO2 emissions on the planet; the Kilauea volcano. Whether it is in a state of eruption or not Kilauea continually leaks massive amounts of CO2 into the Hawaiian atmosphere. Of course, since Kilauea is located thousands of feet lower than the MLO facility and is usually downwind, it couldn’t possibly be a factor. Right?

Cumulative with the emissions coming from Mauna Loa itself, certainly.

I wonder if they are going to place the gasoline powered generator upwind or downwind of the sensor? SMH
