After VISITING Wash., DC, in Jan. of 2021... my cohort and I stopped at a New Mexico fireworks store on our way back west to our homes (AZ & CA.)
I purchased around $600 of the good stuff for my brother and a coworker of his.
Last year, my brother shot off all but 6 mortars. Tonight, we sent the last 6 rounds skyward. I had forgotten how good the legal stuff (500 grams max, of kapow!) really is in practice.
The sky was teeming with fireworks all evening long, but reached a spectacular cresendo as one might imagine at 12 o’clock midnight. To everyone’s credit, folks have for the most part emptied their personal arsenals and have now retreated to their particular domiciles with a couple of exceptions.
Nothing like the “good stuff” when it comes to fireworks. My son’s and I would go find it back in the day. My son-in-law who lives in South Carolina shows off his good stuff and gives us the raspberries. He can get some mighty “kapow” 🧨🎆🎇back there. It’s all illegal here in the NW.
