From a friend on Facebook, and thought of you:

“Canadian singer-songwriter Ian Tyson, died yesterday at age 89.He began his music career as half of the folk-era duo Ian and Sylvia and went on to become a cowboy singer. His song “Four Strong Winds” was voted the most essential Canadian piece of music by the listeners of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation public radio network in 2005. Neil Young once said of that song, “It was the most beautiful record that I’ve heard in my life, and I just could not get enough of it.” Another famous song of Tysons was “Someday Soon” recorded by Judy Collins. These are two of my favorite cowboy songs. And Tyson lived what he sang about spending most of his life as a rancher.”
