I have no idea what a BAM is. But I love used bookstores. And I love thrift shops. And antique shops that really don’t have antiques but other treasures.
No money needed - it only gets in the way of friendships and making your house cozy. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful houses, immaculately decorated, but they felt as cold as ice.
I’ll send you a picture of my favorite part of our house, it’s just some old cheap bookcases and mostly used books. But it’s my little library and I love it.

BAM is short for Books A Million.
I love it here.
We have about 5 acres of land.
There were some very large turkeys hanging
around our well a few afternoons ago.
Once a HUGE white owl landed on the power line to the house, and looked at me like “WHAT?”
It was fun watching them through the kitchen windows
it was cozy, the kitchen wood stove crackles merrily
from about Oct to May in these parts!
It is a lot of work, but it has saved our lives a couple of times once in some bad hurricanes and The Ice Storm of 1998
which had us 12 days with no power.
I worked at a very SNOTTY, STUCK UP nursing home in Falmouth
(Lots of old money there-sea captains beautiful homes handed down), but they were nice enough to let us use their showers so we could get clean!
” I’ve seen a lot of beautiful houses, immaculately decorated, but they felt as cold as ice.”
I have a cousin who “married money.”
She actually had her living room cordoned off!
She ‘entertained me in her “kitchen” (it was HUGE) and had everything you could possibly want in it
It was all stainless steel-I HATED IT!
Kitchen was WHITE(!) In a kitchen?
The floors, walls and ceiling were all the same white.
Honestly? It made me want to scream!
I’ll take my little rickety home, with a loving husband who treats me like a queen! My little round table and mismatched chairs and el cheapo cupboards, and of course the wood stove.
I have an upright piano in the living room and floor to ceiling book cases with dental moldings, but STILL have books everywhere! On the coffee table, UNDER the coffee table. LOL
You sure you want to visit?
Love lives here.. and I wouldn’t trade that for all the tea in China!
