Good catch. I didn't put it together when I saw the two different eye colors. I guess I also was forgetting that these people would give a teddy bear a black eye. :/
The blackened eyes on the stuffed animals represent the blackened eyes on children who have been abused and who have screamed in fear and pain so long and hard that their blood vessels around their eyes burst.
