You’re right.

Even at our local town fair wifi went down and they could only do cash transactions.

Has anyone thought through this?

What happens when there is no internet connection?

Bills or coin (US currency, silver or gold bullion and the like) still work when there’s no internet or electricity.

Done. now the more time consuming part, moving electronic banking deposits from bank to the CU (SS checks).
The hoops WTP must master just to keep our money from being
stolen. There ought to be a law; the filthy pork bellied swine beasts.

You won’t be able to safeguard cash at a credit union. Any institution that clears transactions with a bank and uses fed facilities (Wires) will get swept up in this.

Disclosure: I work at one of the banks pioneering this, though not directly involved.
