The University of Florida has rescinded a football scholarship offer to a high school prospect for using the n-word while rapping along with a song.
Standout quarterback Marcus Stokes, of Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, posted a video of himself mimicking the lyric as he rode in a car.
“Welcome back, n—-,” he can be heard saying in the since-deleted two-second clip.
“I was in my car listening to rap music, rapping along to the words and posted video of it to social media,” Stokes wrote in a statement Sunday. “I deeply apologize for the words in the song which I chose to say.”

Saying the n-word while white …
Says more about the depravity if UF than him.
From my point of view, as an over 60, catholic, fairly conservative black guy, that term IS just as bad as the original, except in private and among friends.
I can put it in context. Reading it in Huck Finn is not going to bother me.
Those who say it’s okay are just trying to rationalize that exact same term. Admittedly, I am light years out of that demographic. Too old. Too square.

White people should avoid everything having to do with ghetto culture.
At the same time, I don’t know why any black people would claim this as their own, but many do.
Could someone advise what the total list of forbidden words are? Mind as well write them all down so we all know.
Not only because it can only get them in trouble but because it makes them look silly and stupid. Whenever I see some white kid in oversized clothes, pants down to the knees, untied $500 sneakers and ballcap worn backwards, I want to laugh.

Some young blacks see the use of that term as part of their
‘private language’. Bro to Bro sort of thing. But ever since Eminem and even harmless Vanilla Ice, it’s been too late for that pretense of exclusivity. Rap has been mainstreamed for a long time. In addition, Rap steals (aka appropriates) from other cultures all the time, because it’s own structures are rather weak and shallow.

they let the other players say and do whatever they want but a white kid can't have free speech....
prepare to sue....because if they don't withdraw all scholarships from anyone who says that stupid word, then its discrimination and persecution...
