1st - That is not natural fiber. It is Nylon. Untie the line and cut off any bit of the line that is frayed. Seal the end with a flame so that it will not fray again. Make sure ALL strands are sealed together,
2nd - Use the following animated illustration to tie a bowline with the main loop passing through the shackle at the base of the hook. The bitter end should protrude at least an inch but not more than three inches from the knot.
If this were larger or in regular heavy usage I would recommend buying a line with a metal thimble spliced into one end as I showed you in the FReepMail. This isn't worth the effort or expense.

The rabbit comes out of the hole, goes around the tree, goes back in the hole again. Might be all I remember from that power squadron training so many years ago.
