My old copy of S.I. Hayakawa’s “Use The Right Word”, says liberty is more of an abstract and general notion suggesting the opportunity to choose among alternatives while freedom stresses a total lack of constraint more than the opportunity for choice.
Just something i remember from the old days and probably useless here.
