I always gave ‘the house’ an extra few dollars (above the tip I left for the waitress) at a Chinese Buffet I frequented; I felt guilty of how much I ate.
I think they appreciated it. I always got a hug from the lady manager when I came in, and a nod from the ‘chef’ who rarely acknowledged any customer’s presence.
I remember a story a few years ago about a woman who was told she couldn’t have anymore King crab legs. That’s all she wanted. Would wait till more came out and then fill up her plate again.
The wrestling team of Billy and Bad Boy Hines were active across the South throughout the 60s. Back in the 80s a sportswriter in Jacksonville Fl told about seeing the brothers in an all-you-can-eat catfish restaurant, this back in the 60s when they were wrestling. He said they would each get two plates and stack the plates with fried catfish from the buffett. They cleaned out the buffett of fried fish.
This was back when there wasn’t nearly as much money in wrestling, and they weren’t going to miss a chance at a big meal in a restaurant. As a kid I watched them many times on Saturday afternoons on Dothan (AL) TV, wrestling at the Houston County Farm Center.

I once went to an all-you-can-eat buffet and the told me you go home now no more food.
And she wonders why the charged her.
One look and even with my limited psychological training I can identify her as a head case.
Restaurants operate on dime-thin margins. People who abuse the buffet are creating loss.
It’s all about the ‘journey’...idiots.
The “all you can eat” business model is going away.
Fat people do not realize how revolting they are to most people.
They live in a world of delusion where they believe themselves just like everyone else...only with a few extra pounds.
The bitter cold truth is they are mentally ill.
The death of shame. People used to act reasonable in public and if they had an once of respect would not act in a gluttonous (shameful) manner. Now people take pride in their shame and expect people to champion their very shameful behavior. They announce it to the world via social media.
On top of that, what quality of food can be found in these type of places. The question I have, what is it with old people and these buffet style places. My parents love them (mostly my mom and my dad refuses to cook). The cooks are hygiene challenged the the 200 people that touch the same utensils after their hygiene challenged selves. Reuse of old food, food sitting out all day, ….
I just boycott them 15+ years ago. People not washing hands leaving the bathroom, licking their fingers between each trough, piles of garbage food, customers on average 60+ pounds beyond obese, kids using their hands to get food ….
Yeah it’s a issue for me.
