HEALTH33 Natural Ways to Improve{Continued to #33}
Mitochondrial Function
How is Mitochondrial Function Improved?
Scientists hypothesize that supplements and lifestyle changes can improve mitochondrial health by increasing the availability of proteins needed for ATP {adenosine triphosphate} production (AMPK activation, PCG-1a, NAD+, SIRT1/3). They also act as antioxidants, assisting the mitochondria in reducing oxidative stress.
Some of the following lifestyle changes and supplements may also increase the number of mitochondria present within the cell, according to limited evidence.
However, remember to speak to your doctor before taking dietary supplements or making any major changes to your lifestyle.
You may try the complementary strategies listed below if you and your doctor determine that they could be appropriate. None of these strategies should ever be done in place of what your doctor recommends or prescribes.
Additionally, supplements have not been approved by the FDA for medical use and generally lack solid clinical research. Regulations set manufacturing standards for supplements but don’t guarantee that they’re safe or effective. Speak with your doctor before supplementing.

Editor’s Note: Below is listed a scientific scientific study which seems to indicate taking two over-the-counter supplements. One is NAC. I take N-Acetyl L-Cysteine/600mg. Bromelain is available at 500mg, yet I also really like taking Vit D3 at 10,000mcg. to support many, many metabolic functions in the hnuman body, including the immune system. Being a hospital Laboratory Director, I have knowledge of medicine, yet am not a physician. Please read on below...

(Much data text plus copious footnotes.)
I would remove niacinamide from that list and replace it with nicotinic acid.
