When that medical doctor is a complete fraud, carpetbagger, who has zero ties to the state, and has advocated gun control, for trans kids, and paid out over 5 Million dollars for scamming people, and stated he would have voted to certify the fraudulent 2020 election, and is trying to run as a Republican in a state with a blue collar electorate, yea... Fetterman was a better candidate for his base that Oz ever would be.
OZ was a CRAP candidate, period. Completely off brand. He had to spend more money to win the GOP primary here, than both parties spent COMBINED in the last Senate election, to wind up with 31% of the GOP PRIMARY VOTE! Does that sound like someone who can WIN? Or has the base behind him? What about this is so hard for some of you folks to comprehend?
You don’t have to like it, but Oz never had better than 40% enthusiasm among REPUBLICAN VOTERS IN PA! Stop listening to idiots like Hannity and other bloviators in DC and NYC telling you crap that’s absolutely false.
Fetterman has spent around 2 decades being active politically in Pennsylvania.. you may not like his politics, but he was always going to be hard to beat. The ONLY reason, and I do mean the ONLY reason Oz lost by 3 instead of 6-8 points is because Fetterman had a stroke, and could not campaign. Had he been healthy Oz would have lost by 6 - 8 points and possibly more.
This is the simple, mathematical reality of PA.

That’s the electorate make up of PA. To win as a Republican statewide in PA, you need to win EVERY SINGLE GOP VOTER YOU CAN FIND, and then need to win independents by more than 2 to 1 and/or peel off a lot of conservative/moderate democrats.... OZ HAD ZERO, ABSOLUTELY ZERO SHOT AT PULLING THAT OFF. You need to be an absolutely GREAT candidate as an R to win statewide.. You can’t be a mediocre candidate, you can’t be a lousy candidate, you need to be a GREAT candidate, and OZ wasn’t even mediocre.
Democrats on the other hand, only need to hold their base, and get less than 1 in 3 independent voters and they win.. they can run a mediocre or even lousy candidate and still win statewide.
That’s the mathematical reality of PA. There was ZERO enthusiasm for OZ, anywhere to be found.. if the discussion, was about Oz, the end argument was always “well, at least he’s not Fetterman”... Hell even on this site, no one ever defended Oz as a great candidate, in any discussion, and pretty much offered “well at least he’s not Fetterman”. Hell even what you state that I posted was, when boiled down was a “well at least he’s not Fetterman” argument.
Oz’s never even got above 50% enthusiasm with the GOP voters (he maxed out at 40%), you think someone like that is going to convince large numbers of D’s or more than 2/3 of Independents to vote for him? If you do, I would suggest you sue the school system that taught you rudimentary mathematics for educational malpractice.
Fetterman was at 60% enthusiasm with Demcorat voters, nothing stellar, but a full 50% higher than OZ’s and more than good enough for him to hold his base and get enough I’s to win.
OZ was a crap candidate, and the results bare it out. He was given every advantage a Republican in PA could get... more than $100,000,000 was spent trying to sell him (more than 10 times the amount spent to back the last GOP senate candidate), he had an opponent that literally could not effectively campaign and can barely talk... Fetterman’s health alone gave Oz a 3-5 point advantage going in, and he still didn’t get the job done. You can’t get more pathetic than that.
IF you love Oz so much, you are more than welcome to invite him to carpet bag for office somewhere else next cycle, but he never ever stood any chance at statewide election here.. Without question the worst off brand R candidate I have ever seen in my 35+ years of living in PA.
