I'm all for global temperatures rising since it means lower heating costs and longer growing seasons.

Mankind has always flourished during climate optimums.

The other issue where there's tons of deception about average global temperatures is that it's not a uniform rise in temperature across the globe. The hot areas are not seeing the increases.

It's the poles which may have a slightly milder than average winter so the average temperature during winter may go from -20 to -15 for example. Hardly enough to melt any ice caps but enough to affect the *average* temperature for a particular year.

Besides, based on the tilt of the earth with the poles being in darkness for a good half the year, the temperatures will not warm significantly since the sun provides the heat, and the ice caps are not going anywhere.
