Apparently I need to work on my reading comprehension...
For me, “Minimum Hurricane Nicole” in NE Florida this was just a long period of stout winds, 30-40 max, and 3” of rain. YMMV. NOTHING to compare to Cat 5 Ian in SW Florida.
The big effect was on Florida east coast condos and homes built right on vulnerable parts of the beach.
Just a HUGE wind field with storm bands covering from Miami to Savannah, that ate away huge amounts of beach sand, with 48 hours of on-shore gales. Many condos that used to have swimming pools, decks, dunes, and a beach, now have the open Atlantic licking right at their pillars.
To go from the condo to the new beach, you’ll need an 18’ ladder. Straight down. Into the water to your knees. Crazy.
Just do an image search for “Daytona Beach Hotel Condo Hurricane Nicole”/past day.
