DeSantis has both public and policy positions than are different than Trump, so it may just be they don’t agree on some things policy wise. For example,
Trump: “The vaccines are one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind”
DeSantis: “They lied to us”
Trump: PRIDE Events
DeSantis: Don’t Say Gay
Trump: I was robbed! We have to out vote the cheaters so come to my rally!
DeSantis: Here are the specific changes we are making to secure elections
Etc.
Trump: let’s secure our borders and build a wall
DeSantis: let’s see if that polls well. Yes it does...I too think we should build a wall, I’ve always believed that
Trump: The election was clearly rigged and stolen, we need to vote 1 day and use paper ballots
DeSantis: How is that polling Paul? Good? OK, I always want free and fair elections, I’ve always called for that.
Trump: China is ripping us off and destroying our manufacturing base, we need to build things here
DeSantis: How is that polling? Not too good among Conservatives...That’s not a conservative principle, free market
Trump: I’m going to tariff steel so we don’t start depending on other countries for our Military
DeSantis: How is that polling? Not good among the Neo Con wing. We need to spend more on the military
Trump: we need to have a good relationship with Russia
DeSantis: How does that poll? Not great among the Neo Con base of support. Ukraine is under threat, here is 40 billion and there is more where that came from
Trump: Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, I will recognize it immediately
DeSantis: I know that polls well, I agree!(but we don’t want to enflame the middle east so let’s hold off)
I can write a book about the difference between Desanctimonius and Trump but it comes down to this. Trump is a leader and DeSantis follows. Trump moves the ball forward because he’s willing to take all of the bad press. So being attacked by the media daily tells me that Trump cares more about the Republic than his favorability. This hurts him for sure but that willingness to fix the country at all cost is exactly why we need Trump. It’s up to the people to get this guy back in the white house because it’s more than just politics for him. There are definitely things Trump needs to improve in order to get reelected but the answer is to get Trump to help Trump not to replace him with power hungry politicians.
