What I know is that for the first time in history, the healthy and able were “quarantined” and kept away from productive work for the sake of the sick. People died of their comorbities _with_ covid. Relatively few people died _of_ covid.

I know a lot “experts” that told me lock-down, mask up, sit down, and shut up did no such thing themselves. They were long on rules and short on following them themselves. Nanzi and her hairdresser. Gavin and friends and their French Bread restaurant: maskless and not distanced. Dr. Birx travelling for Thanksgiving while telling everyone else to stay home. Fredo caught out of Covid quarantine and making a big show of emerging later on. His brother, Governor “Kodos” Cuomo, sending Covid patients into nursing homes while turning away a hospital ship sent by the President.

Those are the ready ones off the top of my head!

Everything you needed to know about the “pandemic”: their lockdown rules were crushing to the People and the economy and a fat, effing joke to them. Lying hypocrites, every one of them. Fauci at the top.

I agree some of your points are valid.

We do know the heathy were quarantined (via Lockdowns) instead of the sick. I think in the early stages the sick should have been quarantined as well as international travelers.
We do know there was a lot of hypocrisy and unwillingness to follow their own rules among the political class. I'm not sure why. It could have been they didn't believe in the effectiveness of the rules. Or it could be they were arrogant and thought they could break the rules with no repercussions. Or it could be that they just break rules in general. Or it could be they felt safe to break the rules because everyone else were following them.
We do know Cuomo sent the sick back to nursing homes instead of the hospital ship. I'm not sure if that was callous anti-Trump hospital ship politics or just bureaucratic idiocy. Seems like there was some blind following of a CDC memo that was poorly interpreted to exclude options such as the hospital ship.
But I don't agree with all your points.
Even if we had started with quarantining the sick, it might have reached the point where we would have called for lockdowns among the public as it spread. Remember there was a legitimate fear of hospital overcrowding and lack of ventilators. I think we underestimated how much hospitalization usage for non-covid treatments would drop during the lockdowns. And we would learn eventually that ventilators were not the best treatment in most cases.
The lockdowns were only partial and that has to be considered in their effectiveness.
I made the point early on during the lockdowns that customers were already locking down without mandates. Air travel had plummeted, all sorts of consumer traffic had plummeted, theater traffic had plummeted. The lock downs mandates in some cases gave businesses permission to close doors and do layoffs. Options they might not have had otherwise.
It wasn't really the first time in history lockdowns were used. They closed a lot of facilities during the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918, including theaters and churches. It was done more at the city level. And there were general orders to mask up in public too in certain cities in 1918.
That hypocrisy occurred among the political and elite class, does not mean the rules were a joke or of no benefit. But rather just that they don't follow rules.
