It's a valid discussion and we should be retrospect about what we could have done better.

However, I can't help but feel those links are cherry picked to support a particular narrative.

For example, Fauci's February statement that it was no worse than the Flu was contradicted at the time by statements coming out of foreign countries where it was determined to be significantly worse than the flu.

And Fauci subsequently admitted he was wrong and that it was much deadlier than the flu.

I think it's safe to say that we didn't "know" much. And much of what we "knew" was wrong. Such as how to treat Severe respiratory distress.

The WHO also warned against travel restrictions, but travel restrictions helped slow the spread into the US and gave us time to obtain samples and start researching.

That also gave us time to learn that treatment for this is different that traditional treatment for Severe Respiratory Distress.

Fauci also reversed his position on masks. Although an astute observer would have noticed that his initial position that masks were dangerous was contradictory to the second part of that initial position that masks needed to be saved for front line workers.

To this day, the most respected US major medical organizations still recommended masks, and many freepers and anti-vaxers are vehemently against them. So what do we "know"?

I know what I think I know. But the only thing I'll say we "know" as a nation is that this was and still is a total mess.
