Trump at a rally tonight (11/5) sums up his competition, and refers to Ron Desantis as "Desanctimonious"
I'm in the same position to judge other peoples' comments as you in are to judge mine.
And isn't that inherent in political discussions anyway? We all are constantly judging other peoples' opinions and beliefs in deciding who we should or shouldn't support.
And where is Trump today? Not in the White House. And after Tuesday, people here will be trying to argue that Trump is the only Republican that can get an election stolen from him (without realizing how weak and pathetic this makes the man sound).
Just wait until Ron DeSantis hits back, people here are going to have a meltdown.
All DeSantis needs to do is remind everyone that while in office, Trump surrounded himself with imbeciles, backstabbers, and Deep State stooges ensuring the Swamp became more powerful than ever. He lost the House. Achieving the impossible, his idiotic decision to implore Georgian voters to stay home lost the Senate as well.
Let's see. He handed the country over to Fauci and Birx, allowing them to destroy his once juggernaut economy. He passed a bumpstock ban. He tried to pass a $500 billion reparations package to blacks. He mailed everyone Covid checks, kicking off the inflation spiral. He got kicked off social media and then booted out of the White House, leaving behind him a Deep State stronger than ever before.
Yep. Once DeSantis starts reminding people of this, people here aren't going to be too pleased with him. "Why is Ron so mean to Trump? What did Trump do to deserve this scorn and humiliation?"
Payback is a b*tch.
My wife hates Trump. Hates, after not voting for Hillary who she hates more. And while she says she expects Trump to win, she is more afraid of DeSantis, because DeSantis is not crazy and is more purposeful.
And yeah, she voted for a corrupt pedophile with dementia, and now complains. And five Covid jabs she calls vaccines. And a cloth mask.
Many Suburban women have been enabled to be what they are because someone else is paying the mortgage. There, i said it. My only value is a paycheck. Am I bitter? No, this is the year I predicted two dozen years ago that i would die working.
No. It’s not the same. But nice try. I am commenting, or judging, your comments on this thread. I am not, unlike you, judging an entire section of the population based on my own personal definition of what constitutes an idol worshiper. You don’t even know these people or what motivates them or how they came to their decisions. Not only a judgemental attitude, but a superior one.
That’s a silly comparison, but you know that.
I think you are right. I’d forgotten about Ryan and Rove commenting recently about how Trump won’t be the nominee (they hope).
You may think that, and I may think that, but over 20 years reading here, the loudest opinion seemed to be that the men had to be military, and they should not be spoiled rich kids. This was partially used against Bush and for him (National Guard wasn’t good enough, but better than Dems who never signed up, etc), depending on topic.
Also, the high morals regarding sexuality, loyalty and fidelity to A wife.
Now, there is zero discussion of those matters or defense of poor behavior. People are hypocrites.
Except I'm not judging an entire section of the population at large. I'm judging certain comments expressed in various threads on FR, and what those comments say about their views. We literally do that all the time in political discussions. To the extent others who don't post in here share those same views, the same conclusion would apply, but I have no idea who those individuals may be.
And I'm obviously not including in this everyone who voted for Trump, because I did as well. Just a certain subset who express groupie-like views of adoration.
You are correct. Trump saying stupid stuff is all in my head and I’m the only one who notices.
sure.
Trump likely bristling over DeSantis failure to defend him
MarLago raid as an example
Still better to hold fire in my opinion
Baiting Trump rather than engaging with him on the same level should work pretty well.
Again, you are making a judgement without knowing the people or why they think the way they do. You fill in the blanks with your own bias.
So you are in favor of party in fighting? Looks like a Democrat win to me.
I voted for Trump, Too, and will again if need be. I support many things he says and does. I have driven in a beltway caravan for him.
By that, I am not a “Never-Trumper”.
But obviously a great many are Ever-Trumpers.
Freepers do that with everything they adore
They venerated Palin too
Brooked no dissent
Ditto with Bush during his reign
And I say that as a devoted Trump supporter who switched from Cruz even before Golden escalator and think 2020 was stolen and no way 81 million actual voters cast for Biden with 62% turnout
12 million more than Obama 2008 with 58% turnout
“DeSantis and Lake do as well...”
Don’t group Lake with DeSanntis. I was all for DeSantis until he went coy about the raid at Trump’s mansion. And he fished in troubled water deliberately by endorsing a Trump hater. And that is sneaky and backstabbing, not out in the open like Trump.
And what do you make of the endorsements DeSantis is picking up from MAGA Trump haters, like Jeb! and the vile little Canadian worm David Frum and the billionaires on Wall Street who have contributed millions to his campaign?
DeSantis is now owned.
One could argue that DeSantis airing an ad comparing himself to God is akin to “saying stupid stuff”.
Yea. I liked him a lot too and was very hopeful he was a viable option on some level. But, I have the same assessment of the recent info that’s come to light. That, on top of mainly working for the government and being a politician doesn’t bode well. Trump is independent career-wise—didn’t need political or corporate money. I voted for Youngkin and support him, BUT. I will never trust him because he’s a Bush/Carlyle Group guy.
“should not be spoiled rich kids”
I grew up just like Trump. Big house. Upper middle class neighborhood Long Island. We had to work hard in school and we had to be outside all day playing with other kids learning how people thought. We went to church like everyone else. We had to plan our futures and study in school just like anyone else
We had to respect our elders, mow the lawn, stay out of trouble, realize that everyone is equal in the eyes of God, and know that any family money was family money, not our own.
Look at the admissions criteria for Wharton business
School. Trump got in there from high school. Trump went to school in a military academy - where he was with kids from all walks of life who didn’t care how much money his parents had
He studied he didn’t party. He played sports. It does not discriminate based on how much money one’s parents have/had. I know three people who went to Wharton two grew up poor. All of whom are successful You don’t graduate Wharton by having people pay your way through.
Trump excelled by putting his talent and education to work If he hadn’t done so, the Clinton’s would have pointed out just whom he was making sleazy rich kid deals with.
I know when people hate people with money from a mile away. It is a prejudice. It is an ignorance. They might hat trump for having money but they’ll vote for him because he makes them see in spite of their bigotry, he loves this country and will take care of it, honoring the constitution, that military duty does not preclude that.
No president since HW had real military time. Trump had more military training than anyone since HW. I ama combat veteran. I have no problem with Trumps view of the military. He knows what it’s for. And he pulled everyone out of foreign mercenary duty. And was working on Afghanistan
