“Homo Economius”
Nice term. I remember in 1976, our 200th birthday, when a European guy was interviewed and asked what he thought of Americans. He said we’re economic entities. Ask an American what he does and he’ll talk about his job. Ask a European and he’ll talk about the things he enjoys like skiing in the Alps.
That attitude Europeans have about Americans have been around for a long time. This has been a subject that has inspired authors, including, Henry James.
