The award for best punter in college football is the Ray Guy award. He is the Tom Brady of punters.

I very much remember Ray Guy from when I was young and used to watch football. He would punt that ball a country mile.

“RIP, never heard of him.”

Hell of a good punter. Possibly the best ever in pro football.

I remember watching his amazing punts, and him once running the ball for a first down for Oakland. Fake punt or bad snap, I don’t recall, but he it ran good.

Best punter ever. I remember back then how they used to say he was one of the best athletes. RIP Ray Guy.

Memento Mori.

Srednik would point out Sammy Baugh who was the greatest passer, punter, and defensive back of his day.

What do you find worthy in Soren K, by the way? Srednik found this book great seed for thought:

https://www.accessebookpages.com/full/seven-men-who-rule-the-world-from-the-grave/

K is one of them.

Dude could punt like nobody before. Still, the Vikings somehow managed to block his first punt in the Superbowl, 1977. Didn’t matter.....Vikes got crushed.

RIP Ray. You were something else .

Too bad. Awesome punter, perfect technique, incredible hang time, deep and accurate.

He was a unique offensive weapon in an era dominated by ball-control offenses. If you were content to trade punts with Oakland, you’d pretty quickly find yourself with the ball inside your own 5 yard line hoping that nasty Raider defense didn’t cause a turnover and get an easy score.

I saw him in the Pro Bowl in 1977 when I was 17, at the Kingdome. During pre-game warmups he was punting the ball 80 yards and nearly hitting the ceiling.

After the game, my family went to dinner at IVAR’S and all of the Raiders pro bowlers were there. I got all of their autographs.

Not many punters can fill a highlight reel. So good that the Raiders spent their #1 draft pick on him in 1973.

To say "Ray Guy was a punter in the NFL", is like saying "Bing Crosby was a singer."

Ray forced TV networks to upgrade their camera equipment. I remember his first game, his punts went so high, the cameras couldn't keep up with it.

He hit the gondola in the superdome. That is quite a bit of hangtime. 30yds up.
