When I terminated my facebook account, I lost over 200 friends. Nobody cared. Not even me.

Same here. Lot's of family too. Once you go off Facebook, you don't exist.

Quite the opposite. A few days after terminating my account, Facebook didn't matter and ceased to exist in my life. I have the same number of friends now, as I had before joining facebook. All the old acquaintances that facebook reacquainted me with, have settled back into place, where they belong. The process of living each day, settles who is part of your life, not facebook. As for the woman who lost all of her husband's friends, looks like she's back to the same friend count she had before meeting him...
