I’m in no position to know the truth of some of what Derek Johnson said in his video, but here’s what the pilot of Nixon’s plane (Colonel Ralph Albertazzie) wrote in his book “The Flying White House” in 1979:
“Air Force One was 39,000 feet over a point 13 miles southwest of Jefferson City, Missouri ... The time was 3 minutes and 25 seconds past noon. Albertazzie picked up his microphone and spoke to ground control: ‘Kansas City, this was Air Force One. Will you change our call sign to SAM 27000?’
Back came the reply: ‘Roger, SAM 27000. Good luck to the President.’
‘Roger, 27000.’”
It’s reported that Nixon’s resignation was effective at noon on August 9, 1974, per his resignation letter, and Gerald Ford’s swearing in started at the same time. If that’s true, then Nixon’s plane was legitimately still AF1 when he departed from Andrew’s AF Base at 11:35 a.m.
hey...thanx for the rest of the story...
