To be fair, I knew a family that had a mastiff - looked pretty much the same as the one in the pic above - it was sweet as could be.

But yeah, could knock over any grown man. The wife took it to the beach one day and it ran, dragging her along the sand and she lost her bikini in the process. Pretty embarrassing, but others stepped in to stop the dog and cover her up.

I’ve known both mellow English Mastiffs (they drool) and even sweet, well-trained pits.

Carne Corsos are intimidating. I cannot imagine a mauling by 6 of them.

We had neighbors who had a female mastiff, not even fully grown, she weighed 165 pounds.
I saw one of the owners in the supermarket and she was pushing two carts, one for them, and one for the dog.
The dog was gentle, but I got very nervous when she wanted to play with our four year old.
His entire arm disappeared into her mouth for a second, but he was just fine, only got slimed.
